Two Key Executive Appointments at SMRT Corp.

SMRT Corporation has been making daily commute affordable, efficient, and comfortable for Singaporeans since 1987. There is a dedicated team of men and women at SMRT who are making convenient, safe, and reliable journeys possible for people. SMRT team members have only one vision — “Moving People, Enhancing Lives.”

Under the guidance of SMRT CEO, Mr. Neo Kian Hong, and SMRT Chairman, Mr. Seah Moon Ming, the public operator has been growing and providing better transportation services to Singaporeans. Recently, SMRT Corp. has made a reshuffle and appointed two key executives.

First Key Appointment

Mr. Lee Ling Wee has been appointed as deputy group chief executive officer (CEO) and president at SMRT International. He was previously heading SMRT Trains. His new role is effective from September 1, 2020. As a president at SMRT International, he will be guiding the SMRT team looking after Singapore-Malaysia Rapid Transit System (RTS) linking Singapore and Johor Baru.

More About Mr. Lee Ling Wee

Mr. Lee Ling Wee joined SMRT in the year 2013 as Senior Vice President (Engineering & Maintenance). Previously, he worked with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) where he honed his engineering and maintenance skills. He has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile in France. He has completed his Executive Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. His expertise has contributed directly to the growth of SMRT.

Second Key Appointment

Mr. Lam Sheau Kai is now appointed as president of SMRT Trains after Mr. Lee Ling Wee was shifted from SMRT Trains and joined SMRT International as president. Mr. Lam has served the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and worked as deputy managing director of Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

Other Appointments at SMRT

Ms. Dawn Low has been appointed as the executive vice-president of SMRT International. She was working as executive vice-president of SMRT Experience.

Mr. Tony Heng is now taking over Ms. Low and being appointed as executive vice-president of SMRT Experience. He was formerly associated with SMRT Taxis & Private Hire Services.

Mr. Cheong Keng Soon has now taken up the responsibility of a chief corporate officer (CCO) at SMRT.

While referring to the recent reshuffles in the leadership roles at SMRT, operator’s chief communications officer Margeret Teo said, “SMRT’s key executive appointments are part of our transformation to reinforce our leadership bench strength to augment our local public transport operator business, deepen our engineering expertise and build capabilities to grow in both local and selected overseas markets.”

Conclusion

SMRT’s leadership team works as a pillar for the public operator. From SMRT CEO to SMRT CCO, everyone at SMRT Corp has been working hard to improve and enhance the commuting experience and driving innovation in Singapore’s transportation system to make public transportation the first choice among the citizens of the country. The recent reshuffling of the leadership roles will help the organization to benefit from the expertise of the respective members appointed in new positions and augment their business.
