Modern transportation networks have hundreds or thousands of processors managing every aspect of train operators and feeding vital information back to command and control centres. Transport operators in Singapore spend hundreds of millions of dollars, or perhaps billions, on making transit more reliable and safer while improving the customer experience. That’s why cyber security has become a crucial part of the daily narrative of transport operators. Transport operators are now focusing on hiring Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to design and implement a safer model for transit systems. Singapore’s multi-modal transport operator, SMRT Corporation Ltd, recently appointed a new CISO.
Chief Information Security Officers (CISO) are on the front lines of defending transit organisations from criminal actors and cyber attacks that would take advantage of any gap in the transit defences. SMRT Corporation has named Shao Fei Huang as its new CISO. Mr. Shao Fei has previously worked as the Chief Information Security Officer at Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) where he super headed the cyber security programme across land transport.
